West East Dance Theatre

Is a research project lead by Giovanna Summo along with many artists from different disciplines. The project has focused on the connections and interactions between the arts of theatre and dance, as well as on the different cultures of East and West, by poetically combining the languages. Through the production of performances, laboratories, conferences and Workshopss, it aims at creating a dialogue between the Indian and Western culture, bringing to light the differences and similarities to develop a better reciprocal understanding.

Starting in 2010, has made several projects including: Danzee Terre di Memoria (Dances and Lands of Memory), dedicated to the great American choreographer Anna Sokolow, Une Vague de Rêves (A Waves of Dreams), tribute to Surrealism, A Oriente! (Eastward ho!), a journey to India, inspired by Hermann Hesse’s novel Siddhatha.
